The stress of caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease.
Coping with the stress of caring for a family member with Alzheimer's disease is a difficult problem. This programme from Illinois University presents some guidelines from the experiences of care-givers, giving helpful down to earth information on caring for oneself as well as the sufferer. It covers friends and support groups, making the home safe, coping with problems of eating, bathing, dressing and incontinence, and maintaining the dignity of the patient as a human being.
This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the country of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
