Hard-hitting film exposing animal experiments in America.
This film has been sponsored by an American student anti-vivisection group. It campaigns against the use of animals in medical experiments and in the testing of domestic products and cosmetics. Borrowers should know that it is one of the most gruesome films ever made. It includes secret footage that the USA Animal Liberation Front took at animal research facilities in the USA. If conditions in laboratories in Britain are anything like those shown in this film, then an immediate outcry is called for. Even though it is horrible to watch, this film needs to be seen, especially by students who might be considering a profession which makes use either directly or indirectly of the results of vivisection. The issue is also relevant to the buying of cosmetics and domestic products (cleaning solutions etc)which are tested on animals. There are ethical alternatives available. U.S.A.
This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes of the country in which it was made, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
