These CD-ROMs have been produced to update and replace the three slide sets produced some time ago by The University of Leeds, which have become a nationally acknowledged teaching resource. Each module comprises 48 images and is accompanied by written commentary in a MS Word file comprising the background to child abuse (common to all sets), an introduction to the particular subject of the set and a brief commentary on each image. These CD-ROMs are only available on receipt of an official order or formal request and must be sent to a named individual. The separate programmes are PHYSICAL ABUSE I;
PHYSICAL ABUSE II;
SEXUAL ABUSE; NEGLECT, DEPRIVATION AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE; and
ABUSE OF NON-CAUCASIAN CHILDREN. The images illustrate many physical injuries inflicted on children, and are designed to help professional people to recognise signs of abuse.
Made in 1990 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised may be timeless.
