£23.80

Students discover some of the causes of racial prejudice.

Description

A group of students in a multi-racial urban school recount how they tried to discover why some people are racially prejudiced. They found out about the development of racist attitudes in young children, and stereotyping, and the way some children’s books perpetuate this. They also looked at television programmes and visited the Black Peoples’ Information Centre to talk about the way history is taught, There is genuine discussion and thought among the young people which should encourage others to rethink their attitudes.

Made in 1985 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made. Useful to see attitudes of a generation ago. The issues raised are timeless. The film quality may not be to modern standards.
