The Dyeing Industry (Picture of Health)

£19.50

The Sheffield Occupational Health Project, plus dye workers concerns about the chemicals they use.

Description

The Sheffield Occupational Health Project involves co-operation between workers and GPs and demonstrates a new and effective approach to the prevention of illness. Controversy reigns over what causes cancer and how it could be prevented. Dye workers believe that carcinogenic substances used in their industry are not sufficiently well known and that legislation designed to protect workers is insufficient.

Part of a series of films A Picture of Health which challenge the notion that ill-health is a matter of only individual concern and cure. It argues that it concerns not only the medical expert but also society and change must come through political action.
