It is now possible to obtain pre-conceptional counselling, where parents are advised about the importance of their diet to the future development of the as yet unconceived child. Certainly severely underweight women suffer problems of infertility, and they may also give birth to children with conditions such as spina bifida.
Scientists are now capable of very refined chemical analysis of human tissue and they believe such work may help reveal the causes of for example multiple sclerosis. It may all depend on a “natural mix” laid down at conception.
