Description
Fairfield Hospital in Hertfordshire is a Victorian psychiatric hospital, of the type now being closed down. A writers group has been established, and this programme is an anthology of their work, and a revealing glimpse of how they see themselves. Some members have been in hospital over 30 years; others only a few months, and their visions are quite diverse.
Made in 1986 this film reflects the cultural attitudes, medical procedures and language of the time it was made. The imagery and film quality may not be to modern standards. But the issues raised are timeless.
