Juvenile nuisance and the problems caused by groups of young people hanging around, causing noise, litter and other problems. In a year Hampshire Police receive more than 100,000 phone calls complaining about the bad behaviour of young people. There is also the fear of drug & alcohol misuse, and bad language. Police officers give their views, and some young people stand up for themselves, claiming they are victimised when they have done nothing wrong.
ASBOs, curfews, dispersal… are these powerful tools helping to reduce nuisance or measures which are likely to further alienate?
