Helen and Scott Nearing began growing all their own food and chopping firewood nearly 50 years ago. Now people come from all over the place to see what they are doing. At 74 and 93, the Nearings, pacifists and vegetarians, have just built a large stone home, by hand, and shine like children in this intimate visit. In spite of the incredible achievements, they still find time for writing and discussions with local people, as well as music making and relaxation and they enjoy every minute. U.S.A.
This film is of historical interest and reflects the cultural attitudes of the country in which it was made and language of the time it was made. But the issues raised are timeless.
