Description
How safe are the herbicides, insecticides and fungicides that are in common use today?. It was the effect of organochlorines on bird populations that first identified these chemicals as harmful to species they were not meant to kill. These findings were not popular with the agrochemical industry. Some banned chemicals are still being used, and the long-term effects of others are uncertain. Yet there are safer alternatives to many of the most deadly chemicals and Rothamsted Experimental Station in Harpenden is pioneering research for new ones.
Made in 1985 this film reflects the cultural attitudes of the country and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless. The film quality may not be to modern standards.
