The last time Justin John Fenton Francis Malony (Doc) was dependent on anyone was in hospital during the Great Flu Epidemic in 1918. Then, shortly before Christmas in his 83rd year he suffered a stroke that left him paralysed down one side… Doc’s life has been one of sharp contrasts and great changes in a century of great changes. He was brought up to be a proud, dominating, humorous, charming Victorian gentleman. He has had to adapt to the reality. We share his memories and feelings, his ageing, his thoughts for the future and his attitude to his approaching death.
