Description
A holiday to get away from it all – but there’s more to this one than Sophie and Bob had expected. He’s 82 and losing his health. She’s 20 years younger and still working to support them both. And so, in reduced circumstances, they can just afford the pensioners’ group holiday in Margate provided by Islington Borough. Whilst they have seven joyful days together in this declining seaside resort, they find themselves confronting, with their new-found companions, the reality from which they had hoped to escape. A warm and poignant portrait of two old age pensioners which has a lot to say about what it’s like to be old and working class in Britain.
