Description
A South American Indian legend says that the tropical forest supports the sky – cut down the trees and disaster follows. The Indians may be right. We are destroying one of the Earth’s most valuable natural assets at an alarming rate. This programme illustrates our dependence on the forest and its products as a source of food, timber and industrial raw materials, as a genetic storehouse and major climatic influence as well as the home of more than half the world’s species of animals and plants.
